The hedgehog that came for tea

  • July,15, 2020

We had a spikey visitor to our garden yesterday. It's unusual to see them out during the day so I took the opportunity to capture him on camera while he happily snacked on a few treats.

I've seen our hedgehogs a few times this summer but they're not usually visible during the day.

He was obviously startled to see us and froze on the spot hoping we wouldn't spot him. Unfortunately for him he stopped right in front of our patio and soon became the center of attention.

He soon warmed to us, however, when we put down a tasty selection of dog food for him to snack on.

He munched his way through the treats. Maybe the daytime walk was worth it after all.

And he happily wandered off back in to the hedge.

It's mid-July and as you'd expect here in the UK it's cold and raining. But that's a good thing! When the temperatures drop and there's rain in the air insects tend to become inactive. And that means you've got a perfect opportunity to try some macro photography!
