365 Project

I take so many photos that never see the light of day. Either they aren't competition standard or they are just too random to share on social media. Every day I'll be posting a new photograph taken that day. There's no theme here. Some may be processed, some may be rough around the edges but an accompanying description will explain the background behind the shot.

The sun setting over the houses looked spectacular, if not as spectacular as the colours I managed to bring out in post.

I saw a buzzard flying high in the sky circling for prey. The focal length on my lens couldn't do it justice but when cropped right in you can just make out some detail.

Out walking around Heath (Wakefield) and the poppies in the fields were being illuminated by the setting Sun. The backdrop is a C17 square water tower, which used to supply the old Heath Hall.

I was poking around in the garden looking for macro subjects. I looked under a big rock and found a nest of spiders. Here is the mum not looking too pleased that her nest was disturbed. A few quick shots and I put her back safely to look after her little ones.

I've enjoyed drinking local beer on an evening during lockdown. I usually take a couple of these out with me when I venture out for some astrophotography and they make a good picture too!

Indoors with the girls today and lighting is pretty dark. Nothing the Samyang 85mm at f/1.4 can't handle though. I love the soft background and beautiful sharp details in the face. This was Rosa in her nursery uniform before breaking up for summer.

These hover flies are extremely common at the moment and ideal for marco shots. They keep perfectly still allowing time to get the shot and their bright colours make a pleasing image. This one landed on a fuchsia in the garden.

I was out in the garden looking for macro subjects when I overtuned a large rock to find a nest of spiders. Here is the mum not looking too pleased I'd disturbed the family. I got a few quick shots and put them back safely.

Something a bit different. I was playing around with colours and quite liked this minimalist view of a pencil using various shades of green. The shadow of the pencil lifts it slightly, providing a 3d perspective.

With no garden waste collections I've accumulated a big pile if leaves and sticks making an interesting pattern picture. Possibly something I could use as a texture at a later date.

I was out on the bike around Wakefield and passed Heath Common where you can find tethered traveller horses grazing on the grassland.

Snapped this little fella whilst out phtographing the stars. I returned home to find him sleeping in front of a gate I needed to go through to get into the house. I got a few good shots using my camera torch for lighting before he eventually woke and trundled off.
